  I have travelled to many places and stayed in many hotels. This little one is a gem that few people know about. The hosts have excellent local knowledge and are very friendly and helpful. The house and the rooms are beautifully decorated to the Victorian style, which is appropriate, as the house was built in the 1880's. The guesthouse is so close to the centre it is almost in it and you can walk to the other end of the city centre in 40 minutes. Transport is easily available with trains, trams and buses everywhere, not to mention the very cheap Sydney taxis that are easy to find. The restaurants in the area are amazing and an eye-opener to me...I thought Australians had terrible food until I saw what was available in the restaurant of Sydney and Melbourne and Surry Hills seems to be one of the central food and entertainment areas of the city, though when in the guesthouse you would think you were in a quiet neighbourhood of San Francisco or London. I highly recommend this small personal guesthouse which has all the modern features we require, including a fast (and free!) wifi in the rooms. I'm staying here again!
